Looking for a chiropractor who does the Y-Strap or the Ring Dinger® in Jacksonville? PATH Chiropractic & Wellness in Jacksonville, right by JTB and Hodges, is the only office in Northeast Florida offering the Ring Dinger®-style full-spine adjustment with a chin-guard strap, and one of only a few in the country. Every one is performed by Dr. Glennon (Austin Glennon, DC), a chiropractor with 15+ years of experience and 496+ five-star Google reviews, and every patient is screened with an exam and full-spine digital X-rays first.
What is the Y-Strap adjustment?
The Y-Strap is a Y-shaped strap that cradles the base of the skull. With you lying on your back, Dr. Glennon applies one quick, controlled pull along the length of your spine. That long-axis (Y-axis) traction briefly opens up the joints of the neck and back at the same time, instead of one segment at a time.
Patients usually feel a strong stretch, often hear several pops, and describe a feeling of space and release afterward. People commonly seek it out for neck and back stiffness, a compressed or “tight” feeling in the spine, and tension from long days at a desk or hard training.
What is the Ring Dinger®?
The Ring Dinger® is the name people search for when they mean a full-spine, Y-axis decompression adjustment, made famous by viral chiropractic videos. It is not the same as the Y-Strap. You lie face-up on a specialized table, padded bolsters hold your pelvis in place, and your legs are positioned to relax the lower back. Dr. Glennon then secures a specialized strap with a padded chin guard around the chin and the base of the skull and delivers a single fast, controlled pull that decompresses the spine from the top of the neck all the way down to the pelvis.
Because the chin-guard strap holds the head securely and evenly, and your hips are locked in by the bolsters, the pull travels through the whole spine instead of mostly the neck. That is what makes this a bigger, more complete decompression than a Y-Strap alone.
The PATH difference: a chin-guard strap, not a towel
Nearly every Ring Dinger® video online shows the doctor pulling with a wet towel wrapped under the chin. Dr. Glennon uses a purpose-built strap with a padded chin guard on a dedicated decompression table instead. Only a handful of chiropractors in the country do it this way, and in Dr. Glennon’s experience the difference is real:
- More force and traction where it counts. A towel stretches and slips. The strap does not, so more of the pull reaches the mid and low back.
- A firmer, more even grip. Pressure spreads across the chin guard and the base of the skull instead of digging in at one spot.
- More consistent every visit. The same hold and the same setup each time, so your adjustments build on each other.
- More comfortable. No wet towel, no squeezing, just a secure, padded hold.
If you have watched the videos and want the real thing done with better equipment, this is the place in Jacksonville.
Y-Strap vs. Ring Dinger® vs. a traditional adjustment
| Y-Strap | Ring Dinger® style at PATH | Traditional adjustment | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it does | Quick traction along the spine using a Y-shaped strap at the base of the skull | Full-spine decompression using a specialized chin strap, with the hips locked in on a table | Targets one or two specific joints |
| Feels like | Strong stretch, multiple releases | Bigger, whole-spine stretch and release | Quick, focused pressure and release |
| Best for | General stiffness and compression | Stubborn, whole-spine tightness when other care has stalled | Specific misalignments found on exam and X-ray |
Many patients get a combination. Dr. Glennon decides which one fits your spine based on your X-rays and goals, not on what is trending online.
Who is a good candidate?
- Active adults who want to move, train and recover better
- People who feel stiff or “compressed” through the neck and back
- Desk workers carrying tension from long hours of sitting
- Patients whose progress has stalled with traditional adjustments alone
Who should not get a Y-Strap or Ring Dinger®?
These are powerful adjustments, and they are not for everyone. Dr. Glennon will not perform them if your exam or X-rays show they are not safe for you, for example with:
- Osteoporosis or other weakened bone
- Recent fractures, spinal surgery or fusion
- Certain neck artery or blood vessel conditions, or a history of stroke
- Inflammatory arthritis that affects the upper neck
- Pregnancy
That is why PATH never does a Y-Strap or Ring Dinger® “cold.” Your first visit always comes first.

Frequently asked questions
Do you offer the Y-Strap and Ring Dinger® in Jacksonville?
Yes. PATH Chiropractic & Wellness in Jacksonville, FL, near JTB and Hodges, offers Y-Strap adjustments and full-spine Y-axis decompression including Ring Dinger®-style full-spine decompression performed with a padded chin-guard strap instead of the towel seen in most videos. Dr. Glennon performs every one himself.
What is different about PATH’s Ring Dinger®?
Most offices use a wet towel under the chin. Dr. Glennon uses a specialized strap with a padded chin guard on a dedicated decompression table, which gives a firmer, more even hold and more consistent traction through the whole spine. PATH is the only office in Northeast Florida doing it this way.
Is the Y-Strap safe?
For the right patient, after proper screening, it is a well-tolerated adjustment. It is not right for everyone, which is why every new PATH patient gets a full exam and full-spine digital X-rays before Dr. Glennon recommends it.
Does the Y-Strap or Ring Dinger® hurt?
Most patients describe a quick, strong stretch followed by a feeling of release. Some mild soreness for a day or two is normal, especially after the first one.
What is the loud pop or crack?
It is gas releasing from the joints as they briefly separate, the same thing that happens when you crack your knuckles. The sound is not a sign that anything is breaking or out of place.
Can I come in just for a Y-Strap?
New patients start with an exam and full-spine X-rays so Dr. Glennon knows it is safe and right for you. After that, the Y-Strap can be part of your visits whenever it fits your care plan.
How often should I get a Y-Strap adjustment?
It depends on your spine, your goals and which phase of care you are in. Dr. Glennon will tell you exactly how often after reviewing your X-rays.
Do you take insurance?
PATH is a self-pay practice. We do not bill health insurance or Medicare. Many patients use HSA or FSA funds. We do work with auto insurance for car accident injuries.
